My appreciation for handmade wood crafts started back in junior high school when my shop teacher Mr. Kirk taught us how to build a small table. (The table is still in service at my parent's house) Decades later and looking for another hobby, I decided to set up a small wood shop at home. I started out by making sports and music related silhouettes. Shortly after I began this new adventure, I stumbled on an old wooden shelf in a neighbors trash. I took it home and ran it through my planer to clean it up. The results were staggering. Under decades of paint was a beautiful piece of wood with a very unique grain pattern. Check it out in my portfolio section. Another area of interest is re-purposing old furniture. I am currently working on a piece called "Piano Re-imagined". Last week, I was treasure hunting (garbage picking/dumpster diving) a few blocks from my house when I saw that a contractor had chopped up a beautiful antique piano. Once I got passed the initial shock, I started taking whatever I could salvage. The ideas are flowing nicely and piece is starting to take shape. I will post pictures when I have something meaningful to look at..... Stay Tuned, -Pete
